My Independence Day Movie Marathon!!

This year - it seems fitting that we remember the thoughts and actions of our forefathers as the Sunkist Supreme Leader seems hell bent on absolutely destroying everything that makes this country great... I think the President from Independence Day says it best:

"We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight!  We’re going to live on! We’re going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!”

SO -  Set off fireworks in residential neighborhoods, drink beers, put out the flags, and remember that we stood up to tyranny and said "hey... fuck you."

INDEPENDENCE DAY MOVIE MARATHON!!!

1: Band of Brothers
Our grandparents crossed an Ocean to go kick the ass of Nazi douchebags. And kick ass they did.
Here we are 70+ years later and looks who's kicking around Twitter and the internet... Fucking Nazis, man...  They all need to eat a dick. So watch B.o.B. to help remember that THEY are the bad guys...

2: V for Vendetta
While not an American movie... I think it's something we should all watch.
Get to know the signs of a totalitarian government hellbent on total control...
Immigrants taken, families separated, detention camps...
And... if you find yourself surviving the flames and becoming a semi-super-powered vigilante... just remember: You're not alone.

3: Tha Patriot
Ah - a true American classic full of British and Australian actors running through the swamps, jumping, shooting, drinking wine... and eating dogs?

Look, you need at least ONE historically relevant movie in the mix.

3: Persepolis
A wonderful glimpse into the lives of people who have undergone a religious revolution and it ended badly.
Based on the Graphic Novel by Marjane Satrapi, the movie has been wildly adored and criticized across the globe - I should note that the critics are the ones who were being oppressive and didn't like having that shown.
Because they're dicks.

4: Dr. Strangelove
I mean... come on.
With the current state of the world... this is a must-see.

Let's just hope it does not go this way...

It has come to my attention that Band of Brothers might not be watchable due to the length of the overall series...  SO... I suggest the following substitution:

1A: Indiana Jones and The Raiders Of The Lost Ark
Here we have a rugged, intellectual elite, college professor - from a conservative family I might add - hopping around the globe, punching Nazis in their Nazi faces and preventing them from taking over the world!

We need more Professor Joneses in the world... well, without all the grave robbing... but that's a post for another time.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY
